2026 Development Team EOI
Details
Event information
Calisthenics Queensland is excited to be launching a new initiative, with development teams in 2026 to compete at the Frangipani Challenge held in Darwin. The Frangipani Challenge will be held on the 26th and 27th of Septemer and is open to Sub Juniors through to Seniors.
Registrations are currently open for Development Team Coaches, with auditions to follow when sections have been finalised. In the meantime, we are keen to understand the interest in the community to be a part of the development teams, via this expression of interest.
There are three main goals for the development teams
- Build and strengthen the foundation
- Extending an opportunity to performers who wouldn’t ordinarily have exposure to an interstate/interclub experience
- Building a team environment and team performers, where all performers are comfortable with performing in all places on stage
The Frangipani Challenge is a development-level competition open to interstate and NT participants who are classified as novice or emerging competitors. It offers a fair and inclusive competitive environment for developing athletes and coaches. To ensure the goals of the Frangipani Challenge are met, NT Calisthenics enforces specific entry requirements for coaches and participants. These requirements are currently under review and will be finalised shortly. However, likely factors for ineligibility are
- Previous participation in state representative teams
- Participation in a Tier 1 team at AusCaliCarnival (exemption considered for club teams)
As this is a new initiative for CQ, we are still in the process of compiling all the information, including costs, budgets etc. A priority for CQ is ensuring the opportunity is inclusive and accessible for our community. Here is some initial information to assist with consideration.
- The intention is to hold training fortnightly on Sundays
- Training will rotate locations between Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast, with the possibility of occasional regional training locations
- The intention is to keep costs as low as possible. It is anticipated the cost leading up to the competition will be around $2,000, covering training, costumes, props etc. Flights, accommodation, and expenses while in Darwin will hopefully not exceed $2,000
