Dear Qld Calisthenics Community,
The CAQI Executive Council can now announce the CAQI Return to Qld Cali 2020 Pathway for the balance of this year.
In light of ongoing Qld Government restrictions associated with Covid-19, in the best interest of its members, CAQI has made the difficult decision that there will be no Regional or State Championship Competitions in 2020. We recognise this is devasting news for our community, though it was not a decision made lightly. The entire CAQI Management Team and Executive Council are extremely disappointed, though we are looking forward to a return to competitions in 2021.
Although alternative management and delivery options for competitions have been considered, there is no way at present for us to deliver a product that is equal to our quality competition events of the past, while maintaining appropriate health and safety management and social distancing, as well as meeting the expectations of our families, coaches and performers.
CAQI would like to thank the Queensland Government in maintaining strict safety guidelines for our community during these difficult times. Although a return to competitions is not feasible during 2020, a focus on training and skill development within each club is both encouraged and supported by the Qld Roadmap and recent financial grant announcements.
The time now is for a concentration on Club-based activities. A return to face to face training and activities will be available from Stage 2 for all clubs and teams that meet the Roadmap restrictions applicable, to be managed on a Club by Club basis.
This once in a lifetime opportunity to pause and refocus on our members is as unexpected as it is unrepeatable. The opportunity for every club, every coach, every committee and every participant to fix their attention on how to get the best out of Calisthenics is here, without the pressure of competition. I know I for one anticipate a stronger and better skilled membership base at the end of 2020 as a result of this wonderful bubble of time in an otherwise eternally busy Calisthenics schedule.
